My dragon poem by Oskar

I love reading books about dragons. Some of my favourite dragon books are Tell Me A Dragon, Dragonkeeper, Dragonology, How To Train Your Dragon and Dragon Rider. Here is a poem I wrote about dragons.

Dragon
Deep in the cave lies the ultimate dragon
That killed thousands of people
It rests...
But one day it will come out of its cave
And destroy everything
Will no one save us?
Or will one of us train that dragon?
We found the boy for that!
His name is Oskar!
 He saw the dragon
He got paralyzed
The dragon dived for Oskar
The dragon who is letting Oskar touch it
He flew the dragon every day
Everyone got along

Kaspar, Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo

I am reading a book called Kaspar, Prince of Cats. Its awesome so far. It’s about a boy called Jonny Trot, a cat called Kaspar, the lady who owns Kaspar and a countess. Jonny doesn’t really have any friends until Kaspar the cat and his owner move into the flats. They all meet and Kaspar’s owner wants Jonny to look after Kaspar for her while she goes out. So Jonny agrees and looks after Kaspar. One day while he is looking after the cat, Kaspar jumps up onto Jonny and purrs.

If you want to find out more read Kaspar, Prince of Cats. I would recommend this book to people who are 7 or over because there are some tricky words to read.

Wicked by Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman

I love the Wicked books, they are so cool. The first book is called The Slobberers.

Here is the blurb: I froze on the other side of the fence. Horrible gobbling squeals came from the SLOBBERERS as they slimed over the bloody trail I had left behind. Aaaaaahhh! I tore my hand and fled. Its WICKED...to be continued.

There are 6 books in the series, they are all wonderful.

by Honey King

Hello Mrs Parry-Jones. We are going to ask you some questions about how much you love reading and how much you think the school loves reading. We'll put the answers on the book blog. Firstly, do you have a favourite book?
Well, I really love old books and children's books. I have about 20 favourite books, I just love the Winnie the Pooh books.

Who is your favourite author?
Definitely Philip Reeve. He's written some absolutely wonderful books, including Mortal Engines, which is just amazing.

 Michael Rosen

Percy Shelley

How much time do you have for reading?
I read a lot in the week, probably for about three hours or so. Even though that's a lot, I would love to try and find more time for reading.

What's your favourite thing about books?
You can open them and just go to another world.

Why is reading important in schools?
Reading can change your life! You can travel the world and enter people's minds.

Do you think children should read more?
Defnitely! I think that the more children read, the better. It can make people even cleverer than they already are. And most of all, it's fun.

Thank you very much Mrs Parry-Jones. We enjoyed interviewing you. Next week, we will interview someone else all about books.

Ozymandias by Percy Shelley
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
